Magnus Walker Urban Outlaw

A portrait of Magnus Walker, the rebel Porsche customizer who turned a hobby into an obsession, and an obsession into a successful business. From a workshop in downtown Los Angeles, Magnus obsessively harvests fragments from donor 911s, grafting them onto vintage frames to create one-off automobiles with the spirit of Ferdinand Porsche but an ethos entirely his own.

Interesting guy and I like the way he has taken hot rod inspired touches and grafted them onto 911s. I have always liked 911s, but for many years hot rodders wouldn’t have been seen dead in a Porsche. But as the years roll by. Cars have become more homogeneous. Anything old becomes cooler. The classic 911 was always a great design classic in my mind. But its interesting how to worlds have colideded.

Great interview with Jay Leno, Magnus passion for the cars comes through loud and clear.

The above car sold for $300,000 at auction. That is a lot of money. But perhaps a reflection of the following that Magnus has following the extensive coverage of his cars.
